PROJECT: Rotations Sculpture

LOCATION: Ann Arbor, MI

SCULPTOR: Douglas Hollis

The sculpture was created as a memorial for a team of surgical doctors from the hospital that were killed during Katrina Relief efforts. A kinetic curved wall of wind-activated perforated vanes comes to life as the medical support helicopters land adjacent to the sculpture area. TROCO contributed to the design process by eliminating the bearings for each spinning vane and replacing with an economical Teflon bushing.  This innovation greatly reduced costs to make the memorial more viable.
